What is HTML? Hyper Text Markup Langugage (HTML) is considered the "backbone of a webpage," because it defines the webpage's basic identity, aka, it's the code that makes up the webpage. HTML is not to be confused with CSS, or Casading Style Sheets, CSS is used for styling a webpage.
